Two year-old Abubakar pictured with his mother, who lives in Kano State, is one of the more than 400,000 children UNICEF has treated for severe acute malnutrition.

Wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari was so shocked by UNICEF reports that a staggering 2.5 Nigerian children are suffering from severe acute malnutrition that she recently launched an initiative to fight child malnutrition in Nigeria.


Mrs. Buhari’s ‘Get Involved’ initiative is looking for the support of ordinary Nigerians and will also be working with the private sector, development partners, non-governmental organisations and UNICEF to help end child malnurition in the country.

Family members of 14 death row prisoners wept and one was close to collapse after learning the largest mass killing of convicted drug felons in Indonesia would take place on Thursday night - 24 hours earlier than expected

Lawyers and embassy staff were also grim-faced as they emerged from the prosecutor's office in Cilacap on Thursday after being informed the deaths of the eight Nigerians, including Titus Igwe, four Indonesians, one Indian and one Pakistani were just hours away.

The executions were proceeding despite nine of the condemned filing last-minute clemency pleas and pressure to postpone the executions amid growing evidence that

"This is just insane, it should be tomorrow," said the director of the Community Legal Aid Institute, Ricky Gunawan, who was filing clemency pleas on behalf of Indonesian woman Merri Utami and Nigerian Humphrey Jefferson Ejike Eleweke.

Human rights lawyer Todung Mulya Lubis said at least three of those facing the firing squad - Mr Eleweke, Ms Utami and Pakistani textile worker Zulfiqar Ali - may have received wrongful judgments.

"In the name of justice, they deserve a retrial," Dr Mulya said. He said many had not lodged clemency pleas until the 11th hour because that would be to admit guilt and they insisted they were innocent. This third round of executions is the largest number of people ever executed in Indonesia's history - it's unprecedented," Dr Mulya said.

The sister-in-law of Michael Titus Igweh,(pictured in veil holding up a family statement condemning the execution) who alleged police had applied electricity to his genitals to force him to confess to heroin possession, said his final request had been to see his wife and family for the last time.

However she said Mr Igweh's wife was in Nigeria and would not arrive in Indonesia until Friday - hours after her husband was killed.

"Yesterday I met Titus and he was angry and upset," Nila said. "He said: 'What kind of justice is this? What kind of country is Indonesia?"

Nila said she had chosen to sacrifice her last-ever visit to Mr Igweh in order to tell his story to the media:

"At this time I believe there are two things that can help Titus, one is God and one is the media. If that was the last time to see Titus, than so be it."

On Thursday morning 17 ambulances - 14 containing coffins -  were ferried to Nusakambangan, known as Indonesia's Alcatraz, where the prisoners will be strapped to wooden posts and shot dead by a firing squad.

Police leaked grisly details leaked to the media by Police about the logistics of executions, including the size of the coffins, which were as long as 190 centimetres for some of the Africans.

They said 198 executioners would be deployed, 140 guards, 70 equipment personnel and a 16-person sterilisation team. Each convict would require chains, a padlock, white aprons, a head cover, a pole, a chair, a marking sticker, a plastic bag for their belongings and scissors.

Meanwhile, Catholic priest in Cilap confirms he will visit 3 Nigerian prisoners ahead of their execution, according to Indonesia bureau chief for ABC, Samantha Hawley.

The attention of Reverend Emmanuel Mobiyina Oshoffa, Pastor and Spiritual Head and the Board of Trustees of the Celestial Church of Christ, has been drawn to media reports concerning the activities of one Prophet Francis Taiwo, Shepherd in Charge, Celestial Church of Christ ( C.C.C ), Key of Joy Parish, Ajiwo at Ajibawo in Ado Odo/Ota local government area of Ogun State.

Prophet Francis Taiwo was reported to have chained his nine year old son and starved him of food for months, after the boy was accused of habitual stealing. The nine year old boy was eventually rescued by men of the NSCDC who stormed the church premises for that purpose. Latest reports indicate that the culprit, Prophet Francis Taiwo was later arrested by the police with the help of his church members.

This report has drawn the ire of the public and our great church has been receiving undeserved flaks therefrom. We are therefore compelled to issue this statement to correct whatever misconceptions that might have been created about the church, in the minds of the general public, by this shameful and totally unacceptable incident.

Let it be known that the Celestial Church of Christ does not condone child abuse and violence of any form. We recognise and place a high value on our youths and children as we do acknowledge them as the salt of the earth and a vital part of the future of any given stratum of society, organisation, church or nation.

Our belief is that children therefore must be raised in an atmosphere of love, Christian values and reasonable and acceptable parental discipline. The fact that the said Prophet Francis Taiwo was arrested by the Police with the help of his church members lends credence to the fact that our church abhors child abuse, domestic violence and inhumanity of any form.

We commend the NSCDC and the Nigerian Police for a job promptly well done, and wish to assure the general public that the Celestial Church of Christ is already taking a further look into the matter.

The Enugu State Police Command has arrested three people, including 18-year-old girl, identified as Ezinne for allegedly selling her 16-month-old child at the sum of N300,000.

Ezinne hails from Isu Mbaneze in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi state claims that a friend convinced her to sell her daughter, Chisom Rapheal, whom she had out of wedlock. According to a statement issued today, July 27 by the Command:

"Ezinne decided to keep it although things were no longer working smoothly for her while at at home until her bossom friend identified as one Promise Godwin,a 20 year of Isu Mbaneze Ohazara Local Government Area of Ebonyi state approached her to come up to Enugu with the child with a promise that somebody was going to take care of Ezinne and little Chisom Raphael.

"She later join the friend in Enugu where she secured an accommodation at coal camp axis but later found out that the friend has abandoned her husband and headed for commercial sex work at Four corners Junction Enugu with her little baby probably to make ends meet.

"It was further revealed that sometime in the month of march 2016, Promise Godwin having perfected the purchase of little chisom at the rate of three hundred thousand nairal with 46 year old Gloria Okafor from Uturu but married to now late Sunday Okafor of Umudi Lokpanta in Abia state whose major occupation is to get and sell babies to prospective buyers within uturu, lokanta Abia state and its environs.

"It was further gathered that following the establishment of the sales understanding between Ezinne and Promise with Gloria Okafor the dealer in the trade, little chisom Raphael was taken to limca Bus stop at Okigwe Imo state along Enugu Portharcourt Express way Okigwe where Chisom was sold to Gloria Okafor at the rate of Three Hundred Thousand Naira and money given to the mother of chisom in cash at the expense of her child and they all came back to Enugu where the money according to Ezinne and Promise was shared as follows; Two Hundred Thousand Naira to Ezinne the mother of the sold child, fifty thousand naira to Promise while the remaining fifty thousand Naira went to the motorcyclist working with Godwin Promise in the Four Corner Brothel where she is staying.

"Gloria Okafor having been nabbed revealed how she bought the child from the duo of Ezinne and Promise but maintained that the child was later handed over to the buyer that same day and the buyer is now at large and further revealed that Godwin Promise who is already 8month pregnant and also with a child of one year and a month baby, has also perfected arrangement to sell off the baby whom she named Chiadikaobi to a prospective buyer before they were nabbed by the eagle eyed operatives of the Central Police station of the Nigeria Police Enugu state command that have laid their dragnets to all corners.

"Suspects are now helping police in their investigations and begging for forgiveness but however blamed the situation to act of Satan.

"Meanwhile, the state commissioner of police Emmanuel Ojukwu has advised youth to know the type of friend they keep in order to become meaningful to themselves and the entire society."

"Your drones won't stop us" - Niger Delta Avengers threaten to destroy Nigeria’s economy

In a statement released on Tuesday by Niger Delta Avengers spokesperson, Brig. Gen Mudoch Agbinibo, the militants allege that the dialogue being initiated by the Federal government with their group, is nothing but a delay tactic for an impending attack against them. They have now issued a warning to the government, threatening to destroy the country's economy. The statement read,


"The NDA intelligence agency gathered that the said peace talk or dialogue by the federal government is a delay tactic employed by the federal government, to enable their purchased drones that are said to arrive latest end of August from the United State. This whole thing makes us to wonder what kind of country is this? We can all see that President Buhari led government is fraud. They are not serious about any dialogue and made it seems the Niger Delta Avengers are the ones not ready for dialogue.

Mr. President you can purchase all the drones in Europe and Untied State. It won’t stop the Niger Delta Avengers from bringing the country’s economy to zero. The worse you can do is to kill poor innocent people which the military is good at but know the Nigeria Economy will suffer. Al Shabaab jihadist group confirmed that one of the bombers in the twin explosions yesterday, July 26, near the airport in Mogadishu, was 57-year-old former Somali MP, Salah Badbado.

Babado was member of the Somali Federal Parliament in the transitional government from 2000 to 2004. He was representing his constituency in Sana region before defecting to the Islamist group in 2010


At least 13 people were killed in the two car bomb attacks near an entrance to the airport in Mogadishu, where there is also a base for African Union (AU) peacekeepers. Five others were injured, most of the dead were UN contractors who operate near the scene of the explosions, Police chief Bishar Gedi told reporters

Local journalists said one of the bombs was detonated by a suicide attacker near a checkpoint. Another blast hit the airport's perimeter wall. Those killed were believed to include security guards at the checkpoint.

Al- Shabaab in a statement said it was a suicide attack by its militants.

 "The two explosions were carried out by two brave Mujahedeen suicide bombers and they have targeted two different locations where the so-called AMISOM peacekeepers are stationed,"  it said, referring to the African Union.

AMISOM troops were deployed to Somalia in 2007 to defend the government against attacks by the Islamist group. The Shabaab were forced out of the capital five years ago but continue to carry out regular attacks on military, government and civilian targets.

In recent months they have claimed attacks on bases of the African Union peacekeeping mission in Somalia (AMISOM) as well as civilian targets including hotels.

Thieves Paraded Naked With Stolen Motorcycle In Delta (Photo)

Three men at the weekend met their water-loo in Agbor, Delta State, as they were caught in the act of stealing a motorcycle.

Residents who caught them raised the alarm which attracted an irate mob.

The thieves were beaten and paraded naked with the stolen bike.

They were thereafter handed over to the Agbor Police Division.

Priest killed after two men armed with knives attacked a church in France

A priest was found dead with his throat slit after two men armed with knives took hostages at a church in Rouen, France this morning July 26th. The men had arrived the church in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray and held the priest, two nuns and other church members hostage during their early morning mass. The police arrived the scene and shot dead the two armed men. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The French police is investigating the incident as it unfolds.

In Episode 2 of Glo TV drama series, Prof Johnbull probes undergraduate daughter's pregnancy

The emotionally charged issue of unwanted pregnancy is the focus of Episode 2 of the much-talked-about TV drama series, Professor Johnbull, sponsored by data grandmasters, Globacom. Tagged Eliza My Daughter, it centres on Elizabeth (Queen Nwokoye), daughter of Professor Johnbull, the retired academic, acted by Kanayo O. Kanayo.

He strongly suspects his daughter is pregnant when she suddenly starts to vomit uncontrollably. Mai Doya, acted by Funky Mallam, innocuously stokes the fire. Seeking advice from Professor Johnbull, the wise one who knows it all, Mai Doya discusses with the scholar how his pregnant wife who is expecting their 9th child, has been vomiting rampantly. Mai Doya arrives in the middle of a serious concern over the health of Elizabeth.

The nexus between vomiting and pregnancy which Mai Doya establishes arouses the curiosity of Professor Johnbull. He quickly launches into a flurry of activity which culminates in a discreet pregnancy test for his daughter. What did he find out? Is Elizabeth actually pregnant? Who is responsible for the pregnancy?

How did the whole town know that Professor Johnbull is investigating his daughter for pregnancy?

RCCG pastor kidnapped in Ikorodu

A Redeemed Christian Church of God pastor simply identified as Bajomo, was kidnapped while preparing for workers meeting just before the Sunday service at the Isawo, Ikorodu, Lagos branch of the church yesterday July 24th.

Church members say Bajomo was in the church when some unidentified persons came in pretending to be there for service before bringing out their guns and ordering the pastor to follow them to their vehicle.

A member of the church, Williams, who witnessed the incident said:

“He was busy preparing for the meeting, when suddenly some people came in dressed in beautiful attire and they were taken for members who had come to worship. It was not until they pulled out guns before it dawned on us that they are militants".

No word has been heard from his abductors.

“I Miss How Things Used To Be” OAP Freeze Apologizes To Basketmouth

Seems like controversial OAP, Freeze has turned over a new leaf,  The Cool FM OAP took to Instagram yesterday, July 18, 2016 apologizing to the top comedian following their ongoing feud.

“My Dear brother Bright, @basketmouth, I miss how things used to be. If I have ever offended you, I use this as a medium to seek your forgiveness.

Trust me, I have forgiven you a long time ago, and I am letting go of all the bitterness,”he wrote.

Recall that Freeze and Basketmouth used to be very good friends until things turned sour between them last year and they have since been bickering on social media.

The Instagram war between both celebrities started on December 27 at OLIC 2.

When Basketmouth took the stage at the Olamide concert he took shots at the on-air-personality.

“There’s this former Cool FM presenter here, Freeze. I see am for red carpet, where him dey?” said Basketmouth. The audience then pointed at Freeze.
“Make una nor deceived by this guy’s fair skin o. Nor be oyinbo o, na eczema cause am o. Freeze my guy, your wife nor beat you today?” further said Basketmouth in reference to the claims Freeze made of being a victim of domestic abuse.
The veteran radio presenter didn’t look disturbed when Basketmouth threw jabs at him. After the show was over, Freeze then took his own shot at Basketmouth on Twitter.

It seems like Freeze is finally letting go following this recent post. He also took time to apologize to fans he has insulted over the years, Nigerian lawyer, Mr. Festus Keyamo, Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, Pastor Biodun, TB Joshua and others.
